The Dropout Prevention Centre initiative was launched during the academic year 2025–2026 with the aim of supporting children who had discontinued or were at risk of discontinuing their education, particularly students who had not successfully completed their 10th and 12th Standard examinations. During the first year of the programme, 18 children benefited through educational support, guidance, motivation and counselling.
Building on the success of the first batch, the Second Batch of the Dropout Prevention Centre for the academic year 2026–2027 was inaugurated at Don Bosco Anbu Illam, Coimbatore. The inaugural programme brought together children who had failed in their 10th and 12th Standard examinations, their parents, staff members and the management team. A total of 30 participants took part in the ceremony.
The programme began with the lighting of the traditional lamp, symbolising hope, knowledge and a renewed commitment to education. Fr. Selvaraj warmly welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of supporting children in overcoming academic setbacks and continuing their educational journey.
The Director, Fr. Arnold Mahesh, delivered a special motivational speech. He encouraged the children not to consider examination failure as the end of their educational journey, but rather as an opportunity to learn, improve and move forward with determination. He also emphasised the important role of parents in encouraging and supporting their children during challenging periods.
As part of the programme, an awareness film on the importance of education was screened for the children and parents. The film aimed to motivate the participants and create awareness about the value of education, the importance of perseverance and the opportunities available through continued learning.
The inauguration served as a meaningful platform to motivate children who had faced academic difficulties and to strengthen the involvement of their parents in their educational development. The second batch of the Dropout Prevention Centre marks another important step towards helping vulnerable children regain confidence, continue their education and work towards a better future.
The programme concluded with a renewed commitment from the children, parents and staff to work together to prevent school dropouts and provide every child with an opportunity to pursue education and build a secure and meaningful future.
