Don Bosco Anbu Illam Social Service Society, Coimbatore, in collaboration with the Department of Social Work, PSG Arts and Science College, organized an Awareness Programme on Human Rights and Human Trafficking on 30th July 2026 at Southern Railway Station, Coimbatore. The programme aimed to create awareness among the general public, railway passengers, and vulnerable communities about the importance of human rights and the prevention of human trafficking.
The programme commenced with Mr. Bala, who served as the Master of Ceremonies and introduced the purpose and significance of the awareness campaign. The gathering was welcomed by Fr. Selvaraj, who emphasized the need for collective efforts in safeguarding children and protecting the dignity and rights of every individual.
A street play performed by the students of the Department of Social Work, PSG Arts and Science College effectively portrayed the realities of human trafficking, common methods used by traffickers, warning signs, and preventive measures. The performance attracted the attention of commuters and conveyed important messages in an engaging and impactful manner.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Sathish (SMR), addressed the gathering and appreciated the initiative taken by Don Bosco Anbu Illam and PSG College. He highlighted the importance of public vigilance, timely reporting of suspicious activities, and cooperation among various stakeholders in preventing trafficking and ensuring the safety of children and vulnerable persons.
Fr. Asvin delivered a special address, stressing that awareness is the first step towards prevention. He encouraged everyone to uphold human rights, support victims, and work together to build a society free from exploitation and trafficking.
The programme was organized in association with the Southern Railway Station Master (SM), Senior Most Railway Commercial Staff (SMR), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and Government Railway Police (GRP), whose support strengthened the outreach and effectiveness of the campaign.
The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr. Josin, who expressed sincere gratitude to the chief guest, railway authorities, PSG Arts and Science College faculty and students, officials from RPF and GRP, volunteers, and all participants for making the awareness programme a meaningful success.
The event successfully sensitized a large number of railway passengers and members of the public on the importance of protecting human rights, recognizing the dangers of human trafficking, and promoting a safe and child-friendly society. The awareness campaign reinforced the collective responsibility of every citizen to "Know Your Rights, Stand for Justice, and Say No to Trafficking."
