Don Bosco Anbu Illam, Coimbatore, in collaboration with C-1 Katoor Police Station, organized an awareness programme to commemorate the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2026 on 26 June 2026 at Gandhipuram Town Bus Stand, Coimbatore.
The programme was conducted with the theme “Let’s Choose Life. Say NO to Drugs.” and aimed to create awareness among the general public, particularly young people, about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the consequences of illicit drug trafficking.
The programme included an awareness song, drug awareness slogans, an awareness address and a special address by Thiru. S. Elangovan, Inspector of Police, C-1 Katoor Law & Order Police Station. A major highlight of the event was a street play performed by the Don Bosco Anbu Illam staff, which portrayed the impact of drug abuse on individuals, families and society.
The awareness activities attracted the attention of the public at the busy bus stand and conveyed important messages on prevention, responsible choices and the need for collective action against substance abuse. The programme also highlighted the importance of collaboration between social service organizations, law enforcement agencies and the community in creating a safer and drug-free environment for children and young people.
The event concluded with a strong call to the public to reject drugs, choose healthy lifestyles and work together towards a drug-free society.
